Roman De Angelis and The Heart of Racing team were at Michelin Raceway Road Atalanta for the 26th Annual Motul Petit Le Mans. The race was the final stop on the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule. De Angelis teamed up with Marco Sorensen and Ian James in the No. 27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3. Going into the race, the trio was in first for the Michelin Endurance Cup, with only this final race remaining.The weekend for the team started great in qualifying, with Ian James putting the car on poll for both GT classes. Unfortunately, the race wasn't as kind to the team as they ultimately finished in fifth position. Several incidents and cautions throughout the ten hours caused the team to fall back from a potential podium finish. The fifth-place result also meant that the team fell out of the top spot in the Endurance Cup.It was not the end of the season that Roman and the team hoped for, but overall, the team had a great season with several excellent results. De Angelis and the team will look to return to the IMSA WeatherTech Championship even stronger next year.
