Roman De Angelis and the Heart of Racing team kicked off the 2023 season with a P3 finish in the 24H Dubai this past weekend. De Angelis was joined in the #27 Heart of Racing car by Ian James, Gray Newell and Ross Gunn for the first race on the 24H Series calendar at the Dubai Autodrome. It was a new look for the team and drivers, with the team entering a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo run by SPS Automotive Performance instead of their usual Aston Martin Vantage. The team had a great start to the weekend, qualifying first in their class and seventh overall after the four-part session ended. The team lost a few positions in the early portions of the race while trying to avoid any contact and duals for position. However, about halfway through the race, the team was able to get back into a podium position and separate themselves from those behind them. Roman was in the driver's seat to take the car home and was trying to put pressure on the second-place driver but ultimately had to settle for third in the GT3 Pro-Am class and eighth position overall. It was a great start to the year for the Heart of Racing Team, who ended up with a podium finish, the top Mercedes car in the race and set the fastest lap. Roman and the team are back in action this weekend at the IMSA Roar Before The Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway. Roman will be racing with new teammate Marco Sorensen in the #27 Aston Martin for Heart of Racing.
