Roman De Angelis and The Heart of Racing team were at Sebring International Raceway this past weekend for the second stop on the Pirelli GT4 America calendar. The weekend got off to a great start with a strong qualifying session by both De Angelis and teammate Gray Newell. Newell qualified the Aston Martin Vantage first in class, while De Angelis put in a time good enough for a second-in-class start in race two.
Despite the excellent starting position, a slew of penalties during race one derailed De Angelis' and Newell's hopes of a podium finish. After multiple drive-through penalties, De Angelis ultimately crossed the line in sixth place.
De Angelis started in the driver's seat for race two and held on to his position throughout his stint before handing the car over to Newell. Newell brought the car home in second for another podium finish for the duo. The car had great pace for the weekend, and the team recovered from a difficult first race to stay in the championship fight.
De Angelis will be back in action next weekend at Raceway Laguna Seca in the IMSA WeatherTech series.
