Monterey, California – May 2, 2022
After a brief break, the Heart of Racing team and driver Roman De Angelis were back in California at the storied Laguna Seca Raceway. Steeped in motorsports history, with the famous corkscrew turn, Laguna Seca is one of the IMSA Weathertech Series schedule highlights.
The Heart of Racing, number 27 Aston Martin Vantage, was looking to rebound after a heartbreaking event just weeks prior in Long Beach. The team put in a stellar qualifying effort placing them in P4 for the start of the race. The start of the race saw the 27 car driven by Roman and teammate Maxime Martin work their way up to P2. Unfortunately, the day took a turn for the worse when a pitlane infraction pushed them back into the field. After a tremendous effort, Roman and the team salvaged a top 10, finishing in P7.
“We gave it everything, fought up to 2nd at the start before a pit stop infraction penalized us and moved us back.” – Roman De Angelis.
The series moves to the midwest for the next event at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course May 12- 13 before heading to Roman’s home race at Belle Isle in Detriot.
