Back To Back Podiums in Detroit

March 26, 2024

Detroit, MI

Roman De Angelis and Ross Gunn rekindled their magic from last season with a second-place finish at the 2022 Detroit Grand Prix in the GTD class. Gunn and De Angelis raced together this weekend for the first time since their highly successful 2021 campaign, which saw them finish 3rd overall in the GTD class and capture the IMSA Sprint Cup.Starting from second position in the GTD class, Roman was able to jump into the early lead with a strong start off the line. Unfortunately, the eventual winning #17 Lexus team had a quick pit stop and executed a perfect overcut strategy to take the lead back from The Heart of Racing team. De Angelis and Gunn tried to recapture the lead but ultimately settled for a second-place finish. The Detroit Grand Prix has a special place in Roman's heart as he grew up directly across the river in Windsor, Ontario and had always attended the race at Belle Isle Park. So a positive result here in front of friends and family is always a bonus.De Angelis and The Heart of Racing team will look to continue their success from Detroit when they race at Watkins Glen International at the end of this month.Keep up with all the action and news with Roman and The Heart of Racing's #27 car by following Roman on social media.
