De Angelis was back in action with The Heart of Racing for the IMSA Fastlane Sportscar Weekend on Sunday. The #27 car driven by De Angelis and teammate Maxime Martin qualified sixth on Saturday and ultimately finished Sunday’s race in that position. Although the mid-pack finish was not the result they were looking for heading into the weekend, De Angelis importantly gained ground on the three drivers ahead of him in the Weathertech Sportscar Championship GTD standings. With only two races remaining on the schedule, the points gained this past weekend could prove vital in the final championship standings, with De Angelis now less than 20 points away from second overall and less than 60 away from first.De Angelis and the team will look to get back on the podium and make a championship push in the final two races on the IMSA Weathertech calendar. First up is the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR from August 26th to 28th, and then the last race of the year will be the Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta from September 28th to October 1st.
