Roman De Angelis and The Heart of Racing have won the 2022 IMSA Weathertech SportsCar GTD Championship. De Angelis, with teammates Maxime Martin and Ian James, overcame several issues throughout the 25th running of the Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta to finish seventh in their class and secure the championship for De Angelis.De Angelis, Martin and James were able to qualify their Aston Martin Vantage in fourth position on Friday around the 2.5-mile track at Road Atlanta. The team worked hard all race to get the car back on the lead lap fighting through an electrical problem that required a steering wheel change and an incident where they were bumped off track by their closest championship rivals. However, when all was said and done, De Angelis finished the season with a 23-point advantage over Jan Heylen and Ryan Hardwick of the No. 16 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911."I wish I could write down all the names of the people And groups I need to thank, but no one deserves the credit more than The Heart of Racing family.
