Roman De Angelis was back in the seat of the No. 27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 this past weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the MOTUL Course de Monterey Powered by Hyundai N. De Angelis was joined by Spencer Pumpelly for the second race in a row.
Qualifying duties fell to Pumpelly, who was able to put the car in fourth position in class for the race. Pumpelly started the race and stayed in the top 5 for his stint before handing the car over to De Angelis on lap 37. A run-in with another car, which took off the mirror on lap 76, forced the team to replace the door, and then on lap 97, De Angelis was forced off track by a GTP car, pushing the team down to the eighth position. Over the next 20 laps, De Angelis was able to recover from the string of incidents and make up two spots to finish the race in sixth place.
Although the team was hampered by bad luck throughout the race, they showed perseverance and were able to put together a respectable finish.
