Return to Endurance

October 26, 2020

After a long break from endurance racing due to the change in racing schedules this year, this past weekend Roman joined the Garage 59 team in Belgium for the 24 hours of Spa race. He has not been with this team since being in Australia earlier this year but was excited to get back with Andrew Watson, James Pull, and Valentin Hasse-clot in the #159 to get racing. The team spent several days leading up to the race tuning the car, working on their driver changes, and practising under many conditions. All of this hard work led them to a strong qualifying race and a start of the main event in 5th place in the Silver class on Saturday.Although the team put in a solid effort, they were involved in a racing incident which took them out of the race. Before that occurred, they had moved themselves up to third and were feeling good about a podium finish. The crew worked to try and get the team back into the race, but unfortunately, the damage was such that it was not possible. Roman had this to say about the race afterwards; "Our SPA 24 Hour ended way too early. Cannot thank the Garage 59 team and my teammates enough for having me back in the #159 again and a mega job by the PRO-AM car for the podium result. On to the next."
