Roman De Angelis finished off a fantastic season of racing this past weekend by winning the final race of the Porsche GT3 USA series at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta and claiming his second title of the year. De Angelis is the first driver in the history of the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Canada and USA series to win both titles in the same year. The win was Roman's 11th of his USA campaign and capped off a dominant season which saw him amass 541 points over the 16 races.
De Angelis was able to clinch the title after the first race of the weekend on Friday with a second-place finish. The 14th podium of his Porsche GT3 USA season gave him a 62 point lead, with only 35 points available in the final race. Despite already having the title wrapped up, Roman was able to finish his season in style with a victory in the final race of the year. He took the lead in the first turn of the opening lap and was able to fend off the Number 53 car of Riley Dickinson to finish first by a narrow half a second. The win was an exclamation mark on a historic season of racing for De Angelis, which saw him win 18 races between the two series and both titles.
