Roman De Angelis and The Heart of Racing Team were back at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this past weekend. The 2 hour 40-minute race took place around the historic 4-mile long track and was the eighth stop on the IMSA calendar for the year.De Angelis and teammate Marco Sorensen started the weekend by putting their #27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in 5th position in Saturday's qualifying session with a lap time of 2:04.397. Unfortunately, the duo could not improve their position in Sunday's race and ultimately finished seventh in their class. The midfield finish did ensure that De Angelis and Soreonson are still in second of both the Sprint Cup and overall Championship standings. With only three races remaining on the schedule, two of which are sprint races, both championships are still up for grabs.De Angelis and The Heart of Racing Team will be back in action from August 25th to 27th at the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR where they will look to get back on the podium and gain ground in the championship standings.
