Roman De Angelis and the Heart of Racing team celebrated yet another podium finish with a second-place showing at Lime Rock this past weekend in the Northeast Grand Prix. This is the fourth race in a row where De Angelis and the team have been on the podium after wins at Mosport and Watkins Glen, along with another second-place finish in Detroit. This string of races has seen De Angelis launch up the IMSA GTD overall standings, where he now sits 3rd overall and on the Sprint Cup leaderboard.
De Angelis and co-driver Maxime Martin qualified in third and had the #27 car sitting comfortably in that position towards the end of the race when a fuel pump failure hit the leading #57, Mercedes, allowing the winning #1 BMW and Martin to pass on the final downhill section of the lap and grab the second place finish.
For the Heart of Racing Team, this weekend was yet another double podium finish, with the #23 car also finishing in second place. The team will look to continue this string of results and renewed championship contending form at Road America, August 4th to 7th.
Roman De Angelis is a 20-year-old, multi-time champion racing driver from Windsor, Ontario Canada. In 2022 he’s piloting the #27 Heart of Racing / Aston Martin Racing, Aston Mark Vantage GT3 in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship GTD division.
